Description

A delightful blend of flavors and textures featuring a salty pretzel crust, sweet strawberry Jell-O, and creamy filling. Perfect for summer gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 oz strawberry Jell-O mix
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 16 oz strawberries (fresh or frozen, hulled & sliced)
  • 2 1/2 cups salted pretzels (measured before crushing)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 8 oz Cool Whip (thawed in refrigerator)

Instructions

  1. Start by boiling 2 cups of water in a large pot. Once the water is boiling, remove it from the heat.
  2. Add 6 oz of strawberry Jell-O mix to the hot water. Stir continuously until the Jell-O is completely dissolved.
  3. Mix in the sliced strawberries. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Pour the Jell-O mixture into a bowl or dish and place it in the refrigerator. Let it set for about 120 minutes, or until it has fully gelled.
  5. While the Jell-O is setting, you can prepare the pretzel layer. Start by crushing the salted pretzels.
  6. Melt 3/4 cup of unsalted butter in a microwave or on the stovetop.
  7. Combine the crushed pretzels and 3 tbsp of granulated sugar with the melted butter in a mixing bowl. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  8. Press the pretzel mixture firmly into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, creating a solid crust.
  9. Allow the pretzel crust to cool completely.
  10. In another mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer or stand mixer until it’s smooth.
  11. Gradually add in 1/2 cup of granulated sugar while beating. Continue to mix until fully combined and creamy.
  12. Fold in the thawed Cool Whip until it’s well combined, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream too much.
  13. Once the pretzel crust has cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture over the pretzel layer.
  14. Carefully pour the Jell-O mixture on top of the cream cheese layer.
  15. Return the assembled dish to the refrigerator and let it chill for at least another 120 minutes until it’s set and cool.
  16. Once chilled, take the Strawberry Pretzel Salad out of the fridge.
  17. Cut it into squares for serving. You can garnish with additional strawberries or whipped cream if you like. Serve it cold for the best taste.

Notes

Make sure to allow enough time for each layer to set properly for best results. Keep it covered when storing to avoid absorbing odors.
