Description
These heart-shaped thumbprint cookies are buttery, soft, and filled with sweet strawberry jam — a delightful and romantic treat perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 large egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup strawberry jam (or raspberry jam)
Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
3. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract; mix until combined.
4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
5. Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough and roll it into a ball.
6. Place on the prepared baking sheet and use your thumb or a small spoon to make a heart-shaped indentation in the center of each cookie.
7. Fill each indentation with about 1/2 teaspoon of jam.
8. Bake for 12–14 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
Notes
For perfectly shaped hearts, use the tip of a spoon or your thumb angled inward to form the top curves.
You can use any jam flavor you like — strawberry and raspberry give the best Valentine’s look.
