- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) for frosting
- 3 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract for frosting
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- Mix the dry ingredients: whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add each egg one at a time to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients, alternating with whole milk, until just combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cupcakes in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make the frosting by beating softened butter, then gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and heavy cream until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes as desired and serve!
