Description

This Valentine’s Day Cheese Danish is flaky, buttery, and filled with a creamy sweet cheese center — finished with a drizzle of pink glaze and heart-shaped strawberry topping. It’s the perfect pastry to surprise your loved ones with a touch of sweetness and love.

Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4 oz cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tbsp milk

1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves

Fresh strawberries, sliced into heart shapes (optional)

Glaze:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

12 tsp milk or cream

Drop of red or pink food coloring (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

3. Roll out the puff pastry slightly and cut it into 4 equal squares.

4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each square.

5. Fold two opposite corners toward the center to form a diamond or envelope shape.

6. Mix egg and milk to make an egg wash, then brush over the pastry edges.

7. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.

8. While baking, heat strawberry jam slightly until warm and spreadable.

9. Once pastries are done, let cool for 5 minutes, then spoon a small amount of jam over the cheese filling.

10. Top each with a heart-shaped strawberry slice if desired.

11. For the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and food coloring until smooth, then drizzle over the pastries.

Notes

Use raspberry or cherry jam for a flavor twist.

For extra shine, brush the danishes with a little melted butter right after baking.

Best served warm, but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
