- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and diced
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for strawberries)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for dough)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for dough)
- 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese filling)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Additional powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Combine diced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and let sit for 10-15 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, mix flour, 2 tablespoons of sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until resembling coarse crumbs, then add milk and vanilla extract. Stir until just combined.
- Knead dough gently on a floured surface and roll into a ¼ inch thick rectangle.
- In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract until creamy.
- Spread cream cheese filling over dough and layer strawberries on top. Roll tightly and slice into 1-inch pieces.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish. Place rolls in the dish, brush with egg wash.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.
