Description

A flavorful and fluffy seasoned rice that complements grilled meats and seafood, or can be enjoyed as a standalone vegetarian dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • ½ cup diced onions (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped green bell peppers (optional)
  • A pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add diced onions and green bell peppers, cooking until soft and fragrant, about 3-5 minutes.
  2. Add rice to the pan and stir for 2 minutes to toast slightly.
  3. Pour in chicken or vegetable broth, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  5. Let sit, covered, for 5 minutes after cooking.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve as a side dish.

Notes

For added flavor, use broth instead of water and adjust spices to taste.
