Description

A delightful bread that combines tangy sourdough with sweet blueberries, perfect for breakfast or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sourdough starter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the all-purpose flour, sourdough starter, water, and salt in a large bowl. Mix until well combined.
  2. Gently fold in the fresh blueberries and sugar if using, being careful not to squish them.
  3. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rest at room temperature for 6-8 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside.
  5. After the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface and shape it into a round loaf.
  6. Place the loaf on parchment paper and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
  7. Carefully transfer the dough into the hot Dutch oven, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing.

Notes

Make sure your sourdough starter is active and bubbly for best results. Experiment with different berries or nuts for variations.
