Description

A quick and easy weeknight dish combining rich flavors and creamy textures in one pot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sauté the sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. Cook the diced onion and bell pepper in the same pot for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Combine the chicken broth and heavy cream with Cajun seasoning. Bring to a boil.
  5. Cook the pasta in the boiling mixture for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Return the cooked sausage to the pot, stirring to incorporate, and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For a lighter dish, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or coconut milk. Add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
