A quick and easy weeknight dish combining rich flavors and creamy textures in one pot.
Ingredients

- 8 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
- 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Sauté the sausage until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the diced onion and bell pepper in the same pot for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Combine the chicken broth and heavy cream with Cajun seasoning. Bring to a boil.
- Cook the pasta in the boiling mixture for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Return the cooked sausage to the pot, stirring to incorporate, and season with salt and pepper.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For a lighter dish, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or coconut milk. Add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
