  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Mix in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Pour in the buttermilk and mix until smooth.
  8. In a small bowl, combine cocoa powder with hot water to form a smooth paste.
  9. Mix half of the vanilla batter with the cocoa paste to create the chocolate batter.
  10. Layer the batters alternately in the greased loaf pan and swirl them together with a knife.
  11. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  12. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
