Ingredients

  • 2 cups of uncooked macaroni
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups of cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup of frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter (if using breadcrumbs)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil, add the uncooked macaroni and cook according to package instructions (8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked macaroni, shredded chicken, frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, and half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the macaroni mixture into a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish and spread evenly.
  5. For a crunchy topping, melt butter and mix with breadcrumbs, then sprinkle on top of the casserole. Add the remaining cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until hot, bubbly, and golden.
  7. Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For alternatives, use ground beef or turkey instead of chicken. Substitute with sautéed mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
