- 2 cups of uncooked macaroni
- 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 can of cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cups of cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 cup of frozen mixed vegetables
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (optional)
- 2 tablespoons of butter (if using breadcrumbs)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil, add the uncooked macaroni and cook according to package instructions (8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked macaroni, shredded chicken, frozen mixed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, and half of the cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour the macaroni mixture into a greased 9×13 inch casserole dish and spread evenly.
- For a crunchy topping, melt butter and mix with breadcrumbs, then sprinkle on top of the casserole. Add the remaining cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until hot, bubbly, and golden.
- Let cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For alternatives, use ground beef or turkey instead of chicken. Substitute with sautéed mushrooms for a vegetarian option.
