Ingredients
Cake Layer:
1 box chocolate cake mix
Ingredients listed on cake mix box
Ricotta Layer:
15 oz ricotta cheese
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Topping:
1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup cold milk
1 cup whipped topping
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Prepare chocolate cake batter according to package directions and pour into baking dish.
3. In a bowl, beat ricotta cheese, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Carefully spoon ricotta mixture over the cake batter.
5. Bake for 60 minutes until set.
6. Allow cake to cool completely.
7. Prepare chocolate pudding by whisking pudding mix and milk until thickened.
8. Fold whipped topping into pudding until smooth.
9. Spread chocolate topping evenly over cooled cake.
10. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Notes
The ricotta layer will sink during baking and rise as it cools — this is normal.
Chill well before slicing for clean layers.
Garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 4 days.
