Ingredients

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 cup strawberry jam or strawberry puree

Pink or red food coloring (optional)

1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

1 tsp coconut oil or shortening (for smooth dipping)

Freeze-dried strawberries, crushed (optional for garnish)


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add egg, vanilla extract, strawberry jam, and food coloring if using; mix until smooth.

5. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix just until combined.

6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls.

7. Place on baking sheets 2 inches apart and gently flatten.

8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
