Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, these homemade apple fritter donuts are packed with tender apple chunks and warm cinnamon flavor, then finished with a sweet vanilla glaze for the ultimate bakery-style treat.
Ingredients
Apple Fritter Donuts:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp melted butter
2 cups peeled, diced apples
Vegetable oil for frying
Vanilla Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, whisk flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
2. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix just until combined.
4. Fold in diced apples evenly.
5. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
6. Carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil, frying in batches.
7. Fry for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
8. Remove fritters and drain on paper towels.
9. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
10. Drizzle glaze over warm fritters and allow to set before serving.
Notes
Use firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for best results.
Do not overcrowd the pan while frying.
Fritters are best enjoyed fresh and warm.
Reheat briefly in the oven to restore crispness.
