Description

Learn how to make Grilled Halloumi that’s perfectly golden, crispy on the outside, and irresistibly gooey inside. This quick Mediterranean favorite is simple, satisfying, and guaranteed to blow your mind — whether served as an appetizer, salad topper, or main dish.

Ingredients

Scale

8 oz halloumi cheese, sliced 1/2 inch thick

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp dried oregano or za’atar

1/4 tsp black pepper

Juice of 1/2 lemon

Fresh mint or parsley, for garnish

Optional: honey drizzle or chili flakes for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.

2. Pat the halloumi slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

3. Brush both sides of the cheese with olive oil and sprinkle with oregano and pepper.

4. Place the halloumi on the hot grill and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and grill marks appear.

5. Remove from heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top.

6. Garnish with mint or parsley and serve immediately.

7. (Optional) Drizzle with honey and sprinkle chili flakes for a sweet-heat combo that’s mind-blowing.

Notes

Halloumi won’t melt — making it perfect for grilling or pan-searing.

Try it with roasted veggies, in wraps, or on top of salads.

Add grilled halloumi to couscous or grain bowls for a hearty vegetarian meal.

For extra flavor, marinate slices in olive oil, lemon, and herbs for 30 minutes before grilling.
