Ingredients
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
4. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract; mix until fully combined.
5. Gradually stir in dry ingredients until just incorporated.
6. Fold in chocolate chips.
7. Scoop 2-tablespoon portions of dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker, chewier cookies.
Sprinkle a pinch of flaky sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
Cookies stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 5 days or can be frozen for later.
