Description

A comforting one-dish meal featuring layers of ground beef, potatoes, and cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup with the milk. Add salt, pepper, and optional seasonings.
  4. In a casserole dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the ground beef mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
  7. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing different types of cheese or sneak in some vegetables like bell peppers or corn.
