Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (3-5 minutes).
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  6. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with flour mixture; mix until just combined.
  8. Add food coloring if desired and fold gently.
  9. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  12. Frost and decorate once completely cool.
