- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook for 10-12 minutes until golden and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Drain any excess fat from the pan.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper; simmer on low for 5 minutes.
- Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Assemble the sloppy joes by scooping the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and topping with shredded Swiss cheese.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
