Description

French Onion Beef Sloppy Joes combine classic Sloppy Joes with the rich flavors of French onion soup, featuring caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook for 10-12 minutes until golden and caramelized, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until fully browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  5. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  6. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper; simmer on low for 5 minutes.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
  8. Assemble the sloppy joes by scooping the beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun and topping with shredded Swiss cheese.
  9. Cover with the top half of the bun and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Serve with crispy French fries, coleslaw, or a light salad. Ideal for family dinners or game days.
