Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg yolk
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Strawberry or raspberry jam (optional)
For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
Heart sprinkles or powdered sugar for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into 6 equal squares or hearts.
3. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, egg yolk, and lemon juice until smooth.
4. Score a border around the pastry pieces, leaving the center intact.
5. Spread cream cheese filling inside the border; add a small spoon of jam if desired.
6. Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
7. Bake for 15–18 minutes until puffed and golden.
8. Remove from oven and cool slightly.
9. Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make the glaze.
10. Drizzle glaze over warm danishes and garnish with heart sprinkles.
11. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use heart-shaped cutters for an extra Valentine’s touch.
These danishes can be made ahead and reheated briefly in the oven.
Try cherry or blueberry jam for a fun variation.
