Description

A beloved classic banana bread that is simple to make and delicious, perfect for using ripe bananas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 4×8 inch loaf pan to prevent sticking as the bread bakes.
  3. Mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  4. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas until well combined.
  5. Mix in the baking soda and a pinch of salt.
  6. Add in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract and stir until well mixed.
  7. Incorporate the flour into the mixture until just combined.
  8. Fold in chopped walnuts if desired.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  10. Bake for about 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, use very ripe bananas and avoid overmixing the batter.
