Description
A comforting dish featuring flavorful patties smothered in rich, savory gravy, perfect for any night of the week.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons flour
Instructions
- Prepare the patties: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape the mixture into patties. Aim for about 4 to 6 patties, depending on your desired size.
- Brown the patties: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the patties to the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are nicely browned. Once browned, remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside on a plate.
- Cook the mushrooms: Using the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté them for about 5 minutes, or until they are softened and golden brown.
- Make the gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked mushrooms and stir for about a minute. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Keep stirring until the mixture is smooth and starts to thicken.
- Simmer the patties: Return the browned patties to the skillet, ensuring they are coated with the gravy. Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve: Plate the patties alongside mashed potatoes or rice, drizzling extra gravy over the top. Enjoy!
Notes
For added flavor, customize the gravy with herbs or different sauces.
