This Balsamic Glazed Chicken with Orzo is a zesty, flavorful dinner that feels gourmet yet comes together in under 30 minutes. Tender chicken coated in a rich, tangy-sweet balsamic glaze pairs perfectly with buttery orzo and fresh herbs for the ultimate weeknight meal.
Ingredients
1 lb chicken breasts, thinly sliced
2 tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 1/2 cups cooked orzo
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
2 tbsp chopped basil
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
2. Add chicken and cook 4–5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
4. Whisk in balsamic vinegar, honey, and Dijon mustard. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
5. Return chicken to the pan and toss to coat evenly with the glaze.
6. In a separate pot, stir butter and Parmesan into the cooked orzo until creamy. Add cherry tomatoes and basil.
7. Serve the balsamic glazed chicken over the orzo and drizzle with extra glaze if desired.
Notes
Use chicken thighs instead of breasts for extra juiciness.
Add a handful of spinach to the orzo for a veggie boost.
The glaze also works beautifully on salmon or pork chops!
