Classic Margherita Pizza

Description

A traditional Italian pizza topped with fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  2. Mix the flour, salt, sugar, and yeast in a bowl.
  3. Add the warm water and olive oil, and knead until smooth.
  4. Let the dough rise for 30 minutes, covered.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to desired thickness.
  6. Spread tomato sauce over the base.
  7. Place mozzarella slices on top and season with salt and pepper.
  8. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the crust for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
