Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
Cornmeal or flour for dusting
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
2. Add warm water and olive oil and mix until a sticky dough forms.
3. Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
5. Punch down dough and divide into 4 equal portions.
6. Shape each portion into a mini baguette and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet dusted with cornmeal.
7. Cover loosely and let rise for 20–30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
9. Score tops of baguettes with a sharp knife.
10. Bake for 18–22 minutes until deeply golden and crusty.
11. Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Place a pan of hot water in the oven to create steam for an extra-crispy crust.
Brush with garlic butter after baking for a flavorful twist.
Mini baguettes freeze well — reheat in the oven to restore crispness.
